Install the Reader app on your phone

It's a Progressive Web App — no app store needed. Takes 30 seconds.

  1. Open Safari (must be Safari — not Chrome). Visit broilerbasemate.com.au/reader
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with the arrow pointing up — at the bottom of the screen).
  3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Edit the name if you want, then tap Add (top-right).
  5. You'll see the Broiler Base Mate logo on your home screen. Tap it — it opens full-screen, just like a real app.
Tip: Once installed, the icon works offline. You can read silos and queue dockets even when you're out of signal range — they'll sync the moment you're back online.
  1. Open Chrome (or Samsung Internet). Visit broilerbasemate.com.au/reader
  2. You'll see an "Install app" banner near the top — tap it.
    No banner? Tap the three-dot menu (top-right) → "Add to Home screen" → Install.
  3. Confirm with Install.
  4. The Broiler Base Mate icon now lives on your home screen. Tap it to launch full-screen.
Tip: Long-press the icon → "App info" → enable Notifications to get push alerts when silos run low or feed deliveries arrive.
  1. Open Chrome or Edge. Visit broilerbasemate.com.au/feed-program/
  2. In Chrome's address bar you'll see an install icon (small computer with a down arrow) — click it to install the Feed Program as a desktop app.
  3. Pin it to your taskbar or dock for one-click access.
Tip: The Feed Program polls your phone's silo readings every 2 minutes automatically. No refresh button needed — just leave it open on a second screen.

Your first batch — 5-minute setup

  1. On the Reader, tap the Settings tab (the gear icon). Set your Farm Name and Total Sheds. Optionally upload your own farm logo — it appears in both the phone app and the Feed Program automatically.
  2. Open the Feed Program on your laptop. Set the Placement Date on each shed sheet — that's the single source of truth for the whole batch.
  3. Walk each shed and tap Save on the Reader after entering each silo reading. The Feed Program's FEED USAGE column fills in automatically.
  4. When a delivery truck arrives, open Deliveries → AI Photo Scan on the Reader, snap the docket, and the system extracts supplier, feed type, amount, docket #, and truck rego automatically.
  5. At the end of the batch, the Batch Results tab in the Feed Program calculates FCR, cFCR, efficiency rating, and your contracted payment — straight to your inbox.
